Cookies

Using Google Analytics we collect some anonymous information about how you use the site by setting and accessing cookies on your computer. A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser that allows the website to “remember” your preferences (such as calendar settings and site bookmarks) on the site from visit to visit, or to maintain your “logged in” status when visiting protected areas. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. A session ID cookie terminates once you close the browser. A persistent cookie is stored on your hard drive for an extended period of time. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. At no time will the cookies reveal to NPS or to others your name, email address, street address or telephone number. Web browsers have settings allowing you to reject cookies, or selectively accept cookies, or delete cookies previously accepted. Please be aware that rejecting or deleting cookies from our website may make certain functions unavailable to you.

The use of cookies is an industry standard, and they are currently used on most major websites. It is possible to adjust your browser preferences to alert you when a cookie is sent to your hard drive, or to refuse cookies altogether. However, this may significantly alter what you are able to see or access on the NPS website.
